How do you draft an A line skirt

To draft a basic A-Line skirt pattern, you will need a sheet of paper, a ruler, and a pencil. Start by drawing a rectangle 60cm long (skirt length) and 50cm wide (1/2 hip plus 1 to 2 cm ease). Then, mark the center point of the rectangle and draw a line from the center point to the top corners of the rectangle. This line will be the center front of the skirt.
Next, draw a line from the center point to the bottom corners of the rectangle. This line will be the center back of the skirt. Finally, draw a line 1cm up from the bottom of the rectangle. This line will be the hemline of the skirt.
Now that you have your basic pattern drafted, you can start to play around with it. lengthen or shorten the skirt, add pleats or gathers, change the width of the skirt, etc. have fun and be creative!
A midi skirt or long skirt can be a great addition to your wardrobe. The key is to make sure you have the right amount of fabric. Depending on the style, a midi skirt can take around 1½ yards of fabric, and a long skirt can take up to 2 yards. In addition, here are different yardages for the popular skirt silhouettes based on 45” and 60” width of fabric: Straight skirt: 1⅝ yards, 1¼ yards A-line skirt:1¾ yards, 1⅜ yards.
